Conservation Authorities are a local presence; boots on the ground; no one else fills the role, sure many tree plantings or community improvement initiatives are in partnership with municipalities but CA's take the lead on these projects. They partner with corporations, create jobs and take care of the land we destroy.
I deeply value the work on the ground to make residents safer and our environment more resilient, i can always look to my local CA during intense weather to figure out if I'm at risk, should be travelling and plan accordingly. There is no one else doing what CA's do and without it, Ontario would be a less desirable place to be. As a young adult, hoping to raise a family in Ontario I can tell you I so disappointed in the disregard this government has for nature, the environment and our health. Our future looks grim without CA's, and its unsettling how little they are appreciated for how much they do at such a low cost.
