I support Conservation Ontario, and their proposal to include a fifth mandatory program. Conservation Authorities must have access to adequate funds to continue programs that are part of their core work, including, inventory and monitoring, watershed planning, tree planting, forest management, natural heritage systems planning, habitat restoration and creation, invasive species management, stewardship and outreach activities.
We must ensure that CAs are allowed to continue their work in protecting the natural environment, including clean air and water for the well-being of all Ontarians.
Recent flooding emphasizes the need for proper management of all of the watershed systems. Don't handcuff the CAs by limiting their longstanding mandates. Don't take away recreation areas that are vital to the quality of life of all Ontarians. Don't limit the great work that CAs have done since 1946.
