I am writing as a concerned citizen of Ontario and as someone who regularly visits the area of Tiny. I am concerned about the proposed permit to remove large amounts of water from the French's Hill area and nearby pond, and the ongoing removal of gravel, sand, stone and clay. This water is some of the cleanest in the world, and extraction from the area threatens the quality of the water, and has already effected the water quality in some areas. Further, the Ontario government has a duty to consult with local First Nations and Metis groups, who are strongly opposed to the proposals. There has not been adequate consultation with First Nations, Metis, and settler community members, and this must happen before any decisions are made on the proposals. The purest water in the world cannot continue to be wasted for gravel washing, and "French's Hill" needs to remain intact to help clean and protect the underground aquifer.
