I object strongly to the proposal to exempt the logging industry Ontario’s Endangered Species at Risk Act until at least 2020.
Logging should not be considered sacrosanct or even special, when it comes to endangered or at risk species. The logging industry bears a great responsibility for the destruction of endangered species' habitat. It is, therefore, imperative that the logging industry be subject to the same laws for the protection of endangered species as everyone else.
Once habitat is compromised, wildlife species like woodland caribou cannot survive. The caribou are already at risk. They cannot afford to wait.
