I would like to ask the legislature to consider the consequences of reducing funding for conservation authorities.
My main concern is the protection of our water resources which are vital to every day life. We literally cannot survive without clean water and it demands our respect being the precious resource that it is.
Conservation authorities work closely with local communities to monitor and ensure our source water is protected which in turn protects public health. These authorities do not generate a substantial amount of revenue on their own and depend on provincial funding for the basic necessities required to fulfill their duties.
My fear is these funding cuts will ultimately result in threatening the health and safety of the public, plain and simple. There is serious potential for innocent civilians to be suffering from serious illness or worse for doing nothing more than drinking a glass of water.
If you really care about the people of this province I ask you to reject this bill.
Thank you.
