The recent World Wildlife Fund report shows that species around the world are in decline, and this trend is clear in Canadian species -- both endangered and not. Long-term consequences of species loss and biodiversity can be catastrophic in ways that are not immediately obvious. Species preservation should therefore be at the forefront of any decision, on an equal footing with economic concerns. For this reason I oppose allowing logging operations to work in violation of the Endangered Species At Risk Act, or extending any exceptions to this act.
