The current LPAT system was set up after months of public meetings and consultations with many experts. It is meant to balance the needs of developers and the needs of communities. Bill 108 reverses this democratic process, and is less ‘for the people’ and more ‘for the developers’. Under the LPAT system more housing is being approved than under the old OMB system, and this time with community input.
Don’t mess with a system that is working for everyone, that ensures that parks, schools and other community services are planned for when new buildings are constructed and gives local people a voice in the building of their own local areas.
Bill 108 sides completely with developers and WILL MAKE LIFE WORSE ‘FOR THE PEOPLE’.
