Bill 108 will make it more difficult to secure parks, community services and facilities through development, while simultaneously making it more likely that developers will challenge municipalities through the legal system. That means fewer parks, less community investment, while at the same time more municipal tax dollars spent fighting through the legal system (wasting my tax dollars!). While the proposed act is said to be about making housing more affordable, it doesn’t actually contain any specific provisions or requirements to make that happen, and it also puts heritage resources at risk and will negatively impact municipal finances.
I oppose these proposed changes and suggest that the provincial government listen to experts in this area to ensure that any new changes are in the best interest of TAX PAYERS and COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
