With respect, this is a regressive change, reintroducing a quasi-legal regime that advantaged the best-financed.
De novo hearings are an affront to natural justice: the OMB and it's replacement should be an appeal board, in the traditional sense of the term.

It is nice that the conservative government can relax the rules so that there are more developments in the community. This will lower the cost and make the city more livable for all Canadian. With population growth, more housing are needed.
Our day to day lives as Torontonians was impacted by the devastating OMB decisions over years.
After years of work, we finally got rid of the OMB, although it was a bit too late.

Do not roll back the progressive changes that give municipalities a say in local development that impacts their neighbourhoods.
Stop acting like a totalitarian communist leader with state control over local government. Scrap your Bill.
Thanks,
Marilyn
In my close to 70 years, I have been to approx. 20 OMB hearings. I have never seen anyone but the developer or person asking for quite ridiculous exemptions win. The persons voting to keep the new development in accordance with the existing laws has lost every time.

This proposal means that we are back to the OMB -- a very expensive process that means the ordinary person cannot afford to fight the developer. Not for "the people". For developers.
I totally agreed with your efforts to get rid of the OMB and view parliament's efforts to go back to what we had with the OMB as a disastrous move. Good luck in fighting the new bill.
This Bill is ridiculous! Didn't we already agree that the OMB was a disaster!
How can and should an unelected body usurp the desires of a community regarding responsible development in their community?
How does this have ANY aspects of democracy?

While I do support the goal of the legislation, I am opposed to the provincial government having so much control over these types of regulations. Different cities have different needs that are best addressed at the municipal level through zoning by-laws.
Thanks.
The City of Toronto has a planning committee to ensure that the city remains livable for normal middle class people and particularly people raising children, not only the rich.

I am sorry to see that you are destroying all the work of the Toronto City Council to make developers pay for parklands and help the people who live in the areas they propose to develop. We want green spaces.

I am writing in the hope you will consider not passing Bill 108 as it would be a step in the wrong direction. It would streamline development approvals. The proposed planning decision timeline would reduce consideration of Z.B.A. applications from 210 to 120 days.

I live in a dense area in an older neighbourhood which is getting high condos which shade houses and get rid of green space in our cities. Please don’t let developers have an open mandate to dictate to our government what they think tax payers want!
