We are against increasing the authority of the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal to override the decisions re official plans and zoning made by the elected officials of the affected municipalities. Such decisions are based on local knowledge and the requirements of the local population. The decisions made by the old O.M.B. caused major problems for our municipality by overriding our official plan re heights and parking related issues. These agencies are controlled by a set of rules that are slanted in favour of developers and don’t take into consideration the desires of the local populace I.e. voters. You speak highly about the common folk but your actions show a complete disregard for their wishes.
We also have concerns about this legislation having loopholes that would allow developers to encroach on the Green Belt.
