There is no benefit to reducing fees for developers.
It will be proposed by developers that they can introduce more product to the market at a lower price, but instead they will increase profits and shirk their responsibility as community builders.
The housing issues we face today are not simply supply. Based on bedroom count, there is more than enough space for everyone to live in the GTA.
Per capital square footage is rising to ludicrous levels, with some retirees occupying 3,000 sq ft homes for 6 months of the year.
The solution is to eliminate single family detached development in its entirety and reward developers for building high-density neighbourhoods jam-packed with walkable community services and commercial opportunities.
