Exempting the forestry industry from environmental regulations protecting the caribou essentially means leaving the caribou--a vital oart of the ecosystem-- unprotected. Loss of habitat currently causes most of the extinctions recently accomplished and those clearly in progress now. We don't know yet how many extinctions will result in ecological collapse including us, but we should try to avoid finding out. Industry will protect its interests, we must rely on the government to protect the environment and us.
