Bill 108 appears to override the City planning process and replace it with much less regulated policies.
In the past the OMB frequently attempted to dismiss the City planners to such an extent that the previous Liberal Government moved ahead to reduce the powers of the OMB.
Bill 108 is reported as allowing buildings up to 35 storeys along Eglinton replacing moderate City height restrictions.
This is totally unacceptable.
Do we really need another intense concentration of tall buildings similar to what is already happening at Yonge /Eglinton at every Transit node without any input from the City planners?
City Planning is carried out by skilled professionals with input from the Community. This process must be allowed to continue. These decisions are best made by those closest to the Issues. That is to say those who will have live with the results.
