Please do not allow the logging industry to be exempt from Ontario’s Endangered Species at Risk Act if we want to prevent more species from becoming endangered, and stop more endangered species from becoming extinct. It would be foolhardy to give the logging industry a free ride when this industry is playing such a major role in the loss of habitat for Ontario caribou and songbirds, and thus the severe declines in their populations in recent decades. We took the efforts to introduce an Endangered Species at Risk Act to protect the populations of countless organisms in Ontario forests. Please make sure that everyone is acting in accordance with this Act and that we hold everyone accountable for their actions if they contravene it. Thank you. I sincerely hope you will listen to the pleas of many ordinary Ontario citizens like myself, and no be swayed by the deep pockets of the logging industry.
