Hello, with regards to the change in the Aggregates Act.
In environmentally sensitive or strategic areas, we should not be eliminating red tape. It is necessary to have these important rules to ensure no long term damage to the surrounding area. Certain areas should be off limits totally. I live in an area surrounded by aggregate and am not against aggregate, but believe we have hit a point of saturation.
Any level of self-regulation is a bad idea. Industry does not know how to regulate itself in these circumstances. At a minimum you would need to have a citizen oversight at each site to ensure the corporations are being accountable to the rules in place.
Time to put the planet first... and promote other building materials which can support Ontario agriculture (i..e HEMP).
