Consistency across municipalities and/or more flexibility from certain municipal building departments on how they accept drawings for permit review would be welcomed. Municipal plans examiners and departments should be reviewing plans and designs for conformance to OBC only, and not dictating how the files are received, named and formatted (to facilitate their unique, electronic plans review process). These drawing layout and naming conventions can contradict how building owners choose to format and organize their drawings and documents. Ultimately, these documents are their property, not the municipality's.
