As a water professional in Ontario, I generally support the proposed amendments. However, I ask that the Wells regulation be further amended to allow for more than just company directors and officers be responsibility holders for Well Contractor licences. All responsibility holders have to write an exam on the Wells Regulations. In large corporations, company directors and officers hold enormous responsibilities, but are generally completely unfamiliar with the Wells Regulations requirements. Requiring directors at large companies to write these exams amounts to unfair administrative burden, and is in many cases preventing qualified water professionals working for such companies from performing routine geoscience tasks that require a Well Contractor Licence. The safety of the water supply would be better served if appropriately qualified water professionals, such as PGO and PEng's could also be responsibility holders.
