Why sell a product that takes away from municipal revenues by design? We sell potable water to earn the taxbase to provide this resources communities. Why allow someone a permit to remove the supply we use to serve their own corporate benefit while burdening us with the management of the waste associated with their business?
Removing the bottled water moratorium in Ontario would result in garbage costs, carbon emissions, illness costs of smog and depletion of public water supplies.
Polymers of plastic bottles can only be recycled a maximum of 10 times. After that it is simply waste.
It takes three times the volume of bottled water to produce one bottle of water. It is wasteful.
Emissions to produce, package and transport water adds to carbon emissions fueling climate change.
Let's stop the waste and get on with managing our water supply with fiscal prudence in line with meaningful climate action and with a vision to protect the resources for generations to come. Water is not man made. It is a finite resource and it is a requirement for human life. Respect and protect it.
