My husband and I wish to express our full support for extending the Moratorium on water bottling permits for a further year, and hopefully for much longer.
These water bottling companies which are foreign owned are paying a pittance to take our water and reduce the vital ground water table of Ontario communities and rural residents who rely on wells. This practice is contrary to our rights as Ontarians and as Canadians and is very damaging to our environment.
These companies bottle & sell our water in massive numbers of plastic bottles at the very time when we are trying to greatly reduce the use of plastic as part of our struggle to combat and mitigate Climate Change.
For our Ontario Government to greatly extend the Moratorium and then to enact much stronger regulations will help to demonstrate to us Ontarians that our Govt will protect our water rights and is also genuinely committed to combatting the crisis of devastating Climate Change.
