It is most encouraging that the government has extended the moratorium on water bottling permits until later in the next year . BUT it also means that the extension just means that Nestle's plans to expand its operations at the Middlebrook Well, near Elora , Ontario are on hold .
i state BUT because water bottling extracts water for the purpose of taking it out of the area of those citizens like those that use the Middlebrook Well.. and that is wrong .
Has anyone ever considered what happens if the Middlebrook Well or any of the wells that Nestle now uses should happen to dry up . Unless i am terribly mistaken Nestle will not offer the water back to these citizens .
We can only extract so much out of our lands before they run dry whether it is mineral or precious metals or liquid . It would be nice if this government stood up for the citizens of this province and considered people over greed . Money does not replace water .
Thank you for considering .
