I support Canadians for Properly Built Homes’ comments in response to “Transforming and modernizing the delivery of Ontario’s Building Code services” proposal and the efforts to ensure newly built homes comply with the Ontario Building Code. Streamlining of the approvals process can be instrumental in creating desperately needed housing, however this cannot come at the expense of properly built homes and resident safety. Homeowners should have confidence that their newly built home is complies with the OBC and will not make them sick from toxic mould or cause undue stress as a result of serious structural defects.
