Ontario must protect the integrity of its water and aquifers for future generations. Whether it be to protect our agricultural industries, our drinking water or our environment in general, there need to be stringent limits and guidelines as to how much water extractive industries can remove, and the remuneration which should be extended to Ontarians for such rights.
As the world is aiming to reduce and combat plastic waste, the water bottling industry is at cross purposes with public goals. Further, as a heavily automated industry, not dominated by Canadian companies, there will be little economic benefit from excessive drawing on Ontario's aquifers by the industry.
