Ontario Regulation 463/16 must be the amended to extend the moratorium for at least a minimum of 9 months, ending October 1, 2020 or possibly even later into the future.
The ministry must have time to complete its analysis of the water quantity review and anticipated impacts of climate change and to publicly consult on and finalize changes to how we manage water takings before the moratorium ends. It is imperative that the ministry be confident that its programs, policies and science protect vital water resources now and into the future.
Also, the ministry must also review the pricing policy of existing water takings by private for profit plastic water bottling corporations as the current pricing is ridiculously non-existent. With such pricing, we are virtually subsidizing the production of plastic bottles and this MUST STOP NOW!
