I support the current ERO 091-0907 proposal to extend the Rondeau Provincial Park Cottage leases for an additional 3 years for the purposes of consulting on an option for a long term occupation of those cottage lots. I support that this 3 year extension be automatically granted to all cottages owners/leaseholders in the Park. Further, I would support any long term option that provides for 1) leases in perpetuity, subject only to future lease cost adjustments and future adjustments as may be necessary to comply with future building code requirements, 2) that any future cost adjustments to these perpetual leases be limited to a reasonable escalator tied to the cost of living, 3) that the leases be transferable to ANY person who may purchase any cottage from an existing owner, 4) that leaseholders be required to maintain their lots and cottages in compliance with any reasonable restrictions imposed by the Ministry, but that the Ministry also be required to keep such restrictions reasonable, and not simply be able to use such restrictions to force cottagers out.
The Park and the cottages have co-existed (as such) since the inception of the Park - over 120 years, and there is no reason to think they cannot continue to co-exist, and mutually care for the Park.
