The Ontario government is proposing that cemeteries be exempt from the Cosmetic ban.
I presume this means that they would be able to apply restricted pesticides in order to get that "perfect" lawn look.
I strongly oppose this additional exemption for a few key reasons. There would periods of time that would be high risk after spraying, inconveniencing visitors when they have perhaps driven a distance to visit a loved one at a cemetary. Visiting children and pregnant women would be in contact with the pesticide, not to mention those who work there, maintaining the grounds. There is much evidence of the "invisible" health dangers of pesticides, and are the very reasons for the cosmetic ban in the first place. This would amount to watering down our existing Pesticides Act, and contradicts the very line in your Proposal Summary, "ensuring protection of human health and the environment."

I thank you for the opportunity to comment on this.
