Of concern in the proposed changes is the use of the PRMA guidelines as the standards. This agency relies on research done by the manufacturers of pesticides, rather than independent studies, and is swamped by the the work it is dealing with at this time. As well, relying on the PMRA loses the input of a variety of experts that were part of the Ontario Pest Advisory Committee. Ultimately, the failure to maintain the high standards that have existed in Ontario up to this point will have a serious impact on the health and wellbeing of Ontarians.
