I support the continuation of the Rondeau cottage community in perpetuity. I support the three-year lease extension as described in ERO Policy Proposal 019-0907. This lease extension should be granted automatically to all leaseholders. This time should be used to reach a permanent solution that will ensure the cottage community remains forever. If a permanent solution is reached prior to the three-year deadline, I support it being implemented as soon as possible.
Independent environmental impact studies have concluded that the cottages pose no significant risk to various protected species in Rondeau park. In fact, many cottages are providing shelter to some of the endangered lizards which make Rondeau their home. The cottagers also spend more money in the local community. Supporting the lease renewal will see many cottages final replacing their damaged roofs or older septic systems which will help the local Chatham Kent economy. Third Rondeau Parks charter established the park as place for cottaging the removal of cottages violates the original park mandate.
