I am in favour of the ERO 019-907 policiy proposal which gives both parties, the government of Ontario and the cottagers time to work out their differences – as it stands currently the due diligence necesssary on the part of MNRF to achieve a reasonable, measured outcome is yet to be completed. Hence a second extension.

The early history of Rondeau Provincial Park is one that aimed at welcoming people: cottagers, campers, daytrippers, etc. to use and enjoy this special parcel of land, marsh and forest. I am of the opinion that their presence in the park is on the decline. The rising fees for all users. The loss of boating access. The destruction of the public dock. The decline of the observation tower on the Marsh Road. The inadequate recyclling program available in the park. None of these measures are indicative of a Ministry that is invested in encouraging people to make use of what Rondeau has to offer in terms of opportunities for recreatiion, education, and encouraging environmental awarness, biodiversity, and respect for the world we live in. The future of the cottagers is part and parcel of the challenge facing the people of Ontarion to assure a way of life that is in harmony with the natural world. Why can living permanently in Rondeau not be part of a plan to promote a viable, dynamic, use of the natural resources available?

Let us give this proposal a fair shake!
