I fully support ERO 019-0907.
Chatham-Kent is one of Ontario's economically-depressed areas and it is largely ignored by Queen's Park. The cottage community in Rondeau Provincial Park is one of the few bright spots in Chatham-Kent, despite the economic instability forced upon the community by the perpetually-expiring cottage leases. Extending the leases to allow an opportunity for meaningful negotiation on a longer-term solution is a responsible approach that will benefit all parties concerned.
Further, it is not fair to the current leaseholders to drop a (literal) last-minute panic to sign yet another short-term lease extension on New Year's Eve. All current leaseholders should be granted the extension automatically. If discussions result in a potential long-term or permanent solution, it should be brought forward for implementation as soon as possible and not delayed until this three-year lease runs out in 2022.
I look forward to a renewed spirit of cooperation in Rondeau in the future.
