To whom it may concern,
In general, the overall intent of the forest sector strategy is to drive increased usage of the forests, which raises a number of concerns for me - given the current provincial government's removal of all major climate change programs, it does not give me great confidence that the approach for the forests is in the long term best interest of carbon sequestration and leaving large tracts of undisturbed land for wildlife, particularly species-at-risk. In addition, the current proposed Ontario Forest Sector Strategy does not implement limits on habitat loss to protect and recover species at risk.
I hope these comments will be taken into account as the forest strategy is finalized.
Many thanks.
