I as an avid environmentalist I fully support reinstating the spring black bear hunt. The hunt was cancelled in 1999 by Mike Harris and the PC government of the day for no other reason then political pressure they received from animal rights groups.
The cancellation hurt guide operators across the province. There is no evidence to support that it was required.
