Dear Sir,
I refer you to :
Wildlands League (2019) Boreal Logging Scars: An extensive and persistent logging footprint in typical clearcuts of northwestern Ontario, Canada
The Boreal forest is the largest land based carbon sink in the world. As such it should be protected and reforested not opened to further logging pressure.
I speak for my entire family when I say that we DO NOT approve of our provincial government expanding logging in Ontario for a short term financial gain.
Climate change is the critical issue.
Climate change is already adversely affecting the Ontario, including our forests.
Expanded logging of the Boreal Forest will only exacerbate climate change issues for Ontario and the rest of the world for generations to come.
We do not yet know the full impact of a changing climate but we believe the cost of trying to resolve climate issues will far out way any financial gain from increased logging of Ontario's forests.
Even if you are not concerned with climate change, we believe the prudent course of action is to preserve and protect the the Boreal Forest rather then take the risks associated with degradation of this important carbon sink.
Let me be extremely clear:
WE STRONGLY OPPOSE INCREASED LOGGING OF ONTARIO'S FORESTS
PLEASE FOCUS YOUR EFFORTS ON IMPROVING AND PROTECTING OUR BEAUTIFUL PROVINCE WITHOUT PUTTING THE ENTIRE PLANET AT RISK.
