MPAC is the problem I, for one, am having as a participant in MFTIP.
In these ten years in the program, our particular assessment has been bumped up to fully ten times our assessment at the beginning of the program. MPAC's rationale, as expressed to me by one staffer: "we're finding, sir, that properties under the program are more desirable than similar properties outside the program."
My wife and I are third-generation owners. We've learned a lot. And love our trails through the woods. But If the program were to collapse or for some reason we were to leave it, we could not possibly afford the full-blown taxes and would have to sell the place out from under our children and grandchildren who love it dearly.
So yeah, we're kind of trapped.
It should not surprise you to learn that I -- once committed to encouraging others to join MFTIP -- am silent on the subject nowadays.
