The whole strategy really paints this idea that forests are renewable/replaceable & we have the potential for unfettered growth. But it doesn't acknowledge the wildlife value of old growth, contiguous forest & the critical service of carbon capture in a climate crisis.
There's some language about reducing red tape & saying that policies shouldn't overlap. Is the idea is that if a co. is deemed sustainable, they will not also have to deal with the annoyances of other legislation like the Endangered sp. Act.? If so, THIS IS NOT OK.
Part of the argument is that we need more paper products to be sustainable alternatives to single use plastics, but there is no acknowledgment that resources could also be put towards creating a more circular economy and better use of recycled paper products.
