I strongly object to the proposed Hallman Pit.

A gravel pit should not be allowed In a Source Water Protection Area.

Mining 20,000 tonnes of aggregate from the pit every year is obviously going to generate a lot of noise and dust creating health effects such as stress and respiratory problems. The many thousands of diesel truck trips will also generate hazardous emissions that are known to seriously affect people suffering from asthma and to also increase the incidence of asthma and other lung problems.

The thousands of truck trips required annually to transport the aggregate will create traffic hazards and also damage local road surfaces. Trucks don't pay property taxes so the burden of maintaining and repairing roads damaged by trucks falls on the shoulders of the local municipal taxpayers, and the millions of dollars this work requires usually results in cuts to social budgets.

In other words, the Hallman Pit proposal will result in the local community losing in terms of their health and safety, as well as financially.

Why is approving a gravel pit in a source water protection area even being considered?
Is this project going to make Wilmot better?
What are the financial and human health and safety costs to the community?
Does this project enhance the quality of life of local residents?
Does this project generate emissions that are harmful to health and the environment?
Who will lose and who will benefit?
