The concept of enforcing boaters to remove all zebra mussels before taking their boat to another waterway is a great idea. There should, however, be provisions made for boaters who keep their boat at a dock in one lake for the majority, or entire, season. For example, my boat sits in Lake Erie all season, I take it out in the fall and clean it up at home before storing for the winter. At this time, I remove any zebra mussels and any I miss are dead by spring. Many boaters are in the same situation. By forcing zebra mussel removal at the dock there will be a line-up at launch ramps in the fall. There should be an exemption if a boater can prove he or she has a dock rented for the entire season.
