Hello,
I was aghast to learn that municipalities in Ontario had recently lost the ability to control whether or not aggregate extraction takes place below the water table. Here in Waterloo Region, most of our drinking water is sourced from wells. The water table thus needs to be protected above everything!
In my opinion, we who rely on the water should also be able to act as caretakers for it. At the very least, we should have the right to object to industrial projects that might jeopardize our water supply. Therefore I oppose the proposed amendments as they stand.
