I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and local resident about the West Hill Biogas Plan. I oppose the building of this harmful plant.
The articles from the Scarborough Mirror dated May 21 and the June edition of Centennial News describe a plan by a private company which is scandalous and outrageous.
"The company want to process 620 metric tons of organic waste every day of the year – more organics than the City of Toronto handles at its own processing plants." And at full capacity it could process 1,240 metrics tons of organics per day. 100 trucks would pass the streets each day.
As a local resident I find that unacceptable that an industrial company with strong smells and harmful waste and loud noise non-stop would come into our living spaces and degrade the quality of our life. The traffic congestion would be greatly increased between the 401 and residential streets.
This is a complete inconsideration for residents' health and safety who pay high property taxes to live in the area.
I am sure you would also be concerned if this plant was planning to be built in your neighbourhood.
Pls stop the building of this plant. DO NOT BUILD!!
