As a 25 year resident of the West Rouge Community, I am astounded that this type of facility would be allowed in the area. We have had environmental issues in the past with fires and faced possible evacuation orders due to environmental concerns. The traffic in the area with the Go Station, increase in retail spaces and development has already left many of us stressed over the inability to navigate the area safely and quickly. The addition of waste trucks using the 401 exits to Port Union Road and Morningside Avenue are not realistic. Try getting to the University of Toronto or Centennial College Campuses on any given morning with all the students and staff lined up in addition to those that use the Pan Am center and then add to that the additional trucks. Is this realistic. Port Union Road is already over utilized during a normal day and then there is rush hour that most of us try to avoid with the GO train parking lots filling and emptying and now add in your desire to put a bunch of trucks carrying waste materials 24/7 and I feel that you are being incredibly unfair to those of us who live here. We are already experiencing a huge influx of traffic due to the creation of the Rouge National Park all year long not just on weekends to the point that for some of us it is almost impossible to use the amenities that exist in our neighbourhoods to the point that we are unable to have guest to our homes when there is no place to park and trying to get into the neighbourhood is a time consuming traffic event. Morningside is no better. Those of us have to line up on the main road to get into the parking lot at the Park already and getting out again is a nightmare if you don't want to get hit. Now add trucks to the only moving lane and we have even more of a challenge. I feel that you need to look at the possible environmental issues if something goes wrong and to be realistic about the already over congested roads before you proceed with the building of this plant. Is there nowhere else in Southern Ontario where it would have much less of an impact on an established neighbourhood that already hates the industrial development that already exists in the area and now you want to add to the problems and concerns! Would you want this in your neighbourhood?
