Hello I’m a general licensed falconer in Ontario.
I agree with the proposal to increase the wild take application for birds of prey.
In my case, I hunt with a red tail hawk and it would be convenient for me to release my bird in the spring when she is fat and healthy and seen by a veterinarian before it’s release.
Currently, when I have a bird I cannot release it as there is a great possibility that I wouldn’t receive a tracking permit for the next season. This would free up my summer and make life easier as presently I have to stick close to home to care for the hawk.
Releasing my hawk in the spring allows my bird to mate and increase the hatchery for that season.
I think it is a great idea and I hope the proposal is passed.
