Please do not "tradition wash" this practice. Just because an activity has been going on for a long time doesn't mean it is ethical or moral. It appears that falconry, too, is fraught with euphemisms. The birds who are stolen from their homes and families to be forced to hunt down other animals are not "companions". They are "slaves". It is abhorrent enough that wild animals are trapped to be used for our own entertainment in the first place. This should be phased out and not expanded.
