I have been working with raptors for 5 years and I honestly do believe that the wild take permit is essential to helping the birds of prey that are found in Ontario. Not only is the federal law for protection helping but helping a species to be successful in their hunting from a falconer is making populations of species rebound from being a species at risk. A falconers goal to ensure the best life for that bird and they want them to be successful in the wild. So opening up the draw and adding a species to list that will benefit from the program makes it important to continue. Take the Red-Tailed hawk for example, their populations have come back in their numbers because of the wild take permit and falconers making sure that bird is successful before releasing and we are seeing more of them to this day.
I think this proposal is important to the birds all around the world and to expand it to a new species that will benefit from it is important.
