The web based portal inaccurately depicts "Agriculturally" designated lands within the County of Peterborough. Through discussions with OMAFRA staff (Arthur Churchyard) we were advised that the mapping for Peterborough County depicted what was in the County OP. However OPA #2 to the County OP which was approved by MMAH in March 2006 removed Agricultural mapping from Map A land use schedule of the County OP. It then recognized through text policy that Agricultural designation mapping would be depicted on the local Township OP schedules.
The County Planning Department provided a Zip file of the OP mapping for our local municipalities to Arthur Churchyard of OMAFRA via email on September 26, 2017. It is our view that this mapping should replace the current layer in the portal to accurately reflect lands which are currently designated "Agriculture" in the local Township Official Plans throughout Peterborough County.
The County Planning Department is supportive of protection of agricultural lands throughout the County and we feel the portal is a useful tool for both Planning and Economic uses.
