This is a good first step, but a 2026 deadline is way too long and we need to be more proactive. The world is not going to wait for you to sort out a bunch of meaningless consultations. We need action yesterday, so the next best time is today. Just implement a new recycling plan now and then makes changes later if need be. Make manufacturers responsible, don't ask them if they would like to be. This legislation needs to be very forward thinking and with real teeth. And don't give them the option to run the blue box programs but not actually recycle the products.
Also the proposal makes no mention of styrofoam which is a much bigger pollutant than single use cutlery which the feds already outlawed by the end of next year. What is the plan to tackle Styrofoam?
