I support the proposal that requires municipal support and gives municipalities veto power because it is the municipalities that will be directly and significantly affected by withdrawing of water from local groundwater supplies. However, I am not in support of the caveat that permits bottling of less than 379,000 litres/day without obtaining municipal support. 379, 000 litres of water per day is still a significant amount of water that will affect municipal groundwater, therefore municipalities should have veto power over large or small permits issued. This arbitrary threshold for municipal input is unacceptable and I do not support the creation of limitations on the requirement for municipal input.
