Hi, I commend the government in making producers (and by extension, consumers) responsible for costs in disposing / recycling packaging.
Consumers who choose to buy products with packaging should be responsible for disposal/recycling costs, rather than the taxpayer.
However, I am concerned that this will be unfair to remote communities. Due to the distance travelled, packaging is required to keep produce fresh. This should be considered.
I am also concerned how this will affect small local businesses in competing with large international companies like Amazon, who can easily absorb these costs or keep them low due to economies of scale. This should also be considered.
