We at SEO (Smart Energy Oxford) we support Oxford Counties goal of 100% Renewable Energy. 100% Renewable Energy is an ambitious goal requiring a significant amount of local action and diversity of renewable energy sources to support varying load profiles throughout a county which combines urban and rural geography.
We see significant value in expanding net metering approaches to virtual net metering as it will allow project based connections from renewable energy sources (Solar, Bio, Geo-exchange, etc.) to load profiles. It will also allow for economies of scales and bulk purchasing of renewable energy systems. Further, this may remove some of the obstacle individual community members face with integrating renewable energies as part of their profile.
We are also excited about communities both existing and new developments having the ability to create net zero energy and zero carbon communities.
