It is my opinion that the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing should not wield the sole power to overturn, change or revoke any zoning order. I believe that everyone who will be effected by changes in a re-zoning request should be both consulted and involved in open and objective discussions and assessments of such a re-zoning.
It should be up to us and our elected councils to vote on the future growth and health of our communities. Isn’t that what democracy means?
