I am not okay with this proposal, for I have seen the actions the Province of Ontario has tried to take on land within Toronto that was deemed as Heritage Buildings (the foundry). The province started demolition without Ciry or Public knowledge. The residents of the area all felt they were protected under the heritage act. Yet the province has come in to try and “big brother” their way with no respect or compassion for the community and what these buildings mean for us, our city, and our history.
This proposal suggests that the Province would have the right to override any existing zoning or land designation as they wish, and as they are attempting to do at the Foundry - which would completely overturn existing agreements and understanding of zoning.
I strongly oppose this proposal, I have seen first hand through the protests and reaction to what Ontario tried to do with the Foundry, that this would be incredibly foolish and unjust.
