The provincial government currently has far too much power with zoning orders. The Dominion Foundry Complex in Toronto is simply the latest and most outrageous example of the province moving ahead on a project with no notice or consultation.
The province should not have the power to override responsible municipal government planning, with local consultation. Residents must have a say in shaping their community and the final decision on any project must be with municipal government. Not a provincial body or ministry, and especially not with enhanced authority.
